The SHIP II Program
Health / Safety Initiative
The SHIP II (System Health Injury Protocol) program is a health/safety initiative where employees can receive up to six hours of Union Pacific paid personal training to help better their conditioning levels and to lessen their risk for getting hurt on the job. With SHIP II, employees are given a friendly introduction to fitness, an in depth understanding of how to exercise safely for their own specific goals, and the accountability and motivation to improve their overall fitness.
The six one-hour sessions are a great jumpstart to a healthy lifestyle, but the hope is that employees won't stop after they've finished their last session. New information, new tips and new exercises are offered as motivation to employees so that they can continue down the road to better health. In each SHIP II article, employees will read inspirational stories from fellow SHIP II alumni. They will receive sample workouts, nutrition and fitness tips, as well as interesting health and fitness factoids.
