Becoming a smarter health care consumer has many advantages — from assuring you get the best, most appropriate care to effectively managing your financial responsibilities for the cost of care
Your health plan offers 24/7 access to a registered nurse or health coach who can help you or a family member with many different health issues or questions. Utilizing this service may help you receive the appropriate care and better understand how best to control costs by:
- Avoiding an unnecessary trip to the emergency room, doctor’s office or other health care facility if you call for non‐emergency conditions, such as cold and flu symptoms, nausea and vomiting, sore throats, earaches or sinus pain.
- Receiving support and information to understand and manage a chronic health condition, such as diabetes, back pain or heart disease.
- Enrolling in various health and wellness programs, including weight management, nutrition counseling, smoking/tobacco cessation or stress management.
- Utilizing these types of programs will assist you to become healthier and stay healthier.
