Anthem Cyber Attack – Update
Anthem, one of the nation’s largest health insurance companies, reported last week that it was the victim of an external cyber attack, in which hackers obtained personal information from current and former members, including names, birthdays, medical IDs, addresses and phone numbers.
Now, Anthem is reporting that some health plan members are receiving emails from
"do-not-reply@anthern.com" (the email address misspells Anthem), stating their accounts have been hacked and instructing them to click a link in the email to receive free credit monitoring.
These emails are NOT from Anthem. If you receive this or similar emails, do NOT click on any links contained in such emails. Please delete the email immediately.
Anthem is offering a free credit monitoring service to affected health plan members. These offers will be sent in letters through the U.S. Postal Service. Any emails you may receive claiming to be from Anthem and providing a "Click here" link are not valid and should be deleted. These counterfeit emails can look very authentic.
